The Idea
The metaverse is growing at an incredible rate - new virtual world platforms are popping up constantly, and the race to be “the best” environment is on. One day I came up with the idea of documenting some of the metaverse’s growth (as best I can, anyhow), as to give newcomers and old timers alike a viable news source.
About The Blogger
My virtual identity name is Poseidon, and I’ve personally have used Active Worlds, Second Life and There.com and have enjoyed all three, although I am a permanent resident of Active Worlds. I’ve been a part of virtual worlds since the end of 1998, when I first discovered the virtual world “Alpha World”, Active Worlds’ largest public building world (and perhaps the largest on the net). My history inside Active Worlds has been fairly diverse, helping to direct various communities, some for teens, others for game developers. I’ve also had the wonderful opportunity to do some gaming development within Active Worlds, through a company a friend and myself started years ago, called Draedan Entertainment.
In addition to trying to follow and comment on the growth and expansion of the metaverse, I am currently working on a game within the Active Worlds environment on its own server.
